In the latter he served the historic Dexter Avenue King Memorial Baptist Church, Montgomery, which was pastored by the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1950’s and previously by the Reverend Dr. Vernon Johns.
Dr. Sanders is one of a few African Americans with a terminal degree in Biblical Studies. He received the Ph.D. degree in New Testament and Christian Origins from Harvard University.
Rev. Dr. Dale Jay Sanders
Rev. Dale Sanders was born on February 23, 1970, in the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. He is the sixth child to the union of Rev. and Mrs. Leroy Sanders, Sr. The family made their home in Kenner, LA where Rev. Sanders was reared as a boy. At the age of seven, he confessed Christ and was baptized by his father at the Oriental Baptist Church in New Orleans, LA. Not more than five years later at the age of twelve he would make yet another confession; accepting the call to the gospel ministry. And as of April 16, 2009, he has been preaching the gospel for more than 28 years, without compromise.
On December 3, 1995, Rev. Sanders was called to pastor the Fifth African Baptist Church. Under his leadership, the church has been renovated twice, has built a new meeting facility known as Koinonia Hall and has acquired 9 pieces of property all adjacent to the sanctuary. In the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina growth has been experienced in every area of the church thanks to the pastors unwavering commitment to teach and preach biblical principles.
In addition to maintaining a rigorous revival schedule throughout the country he also serves as Dean of the Ministers Conference of the National Missionary Baptist Convention of America, Inc. and Second Vice Moderator of the Baptist Ministers Conference of Greater New Orleans and vicinity. He holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Psychology from Southern University at New Orleans and is only several hours away from earning a BA in History.
He is married to the elegant and humble Kimberly Vallery Sanders and fathers their four children, Gerae’ (Sunshine), Destiny (Shug), Dale II (DJ) and Jerico Elisha.
